SDSS is a huge project dedicated to mapping the entire night sky. It does this using a telescope with a 2.5-metre mirror –  about the size of a double-decker bus. So far, SDSS has covered about a third of the sky, capturing multi-colour images and taking measurements of more than three million cosmic objects!
